About Skipton

Skipton is a picturesque market town in North Yorkshire.  It is known as 'The Gateway to The Dales' and is close to 'Calendar Girls' country.  Skipton is in the district of Craven, from where our business takes it name.

Skipton has lots to offer.

Voted the nation's 'Best High Street' in 2009, Skipton has a good range of nationally- and privately owned shops (including our own privately owned stationers, of course!), as well as a market on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In March 2014 Skipton was crowned the most desirable area in the country to live by The Sunday Times's 101 Best Places to Live in Britain.  Skipton was selected because of its low crime rates, top class schools, great transport links, its independent shops (such as ours!), pretty and reasonably priced property and beautiful surrounding countryside.

Skipton has a good range of accommodation on offer to suit all budgets and lots of eateries too.

While you're here you can visit Skipton Castle, one of the most complete, fully roofed medieval castles in England, or take a boat trip on the canal.

Check out the events calendar on the 'I Love Skipton' website at http://welcometoskipton.com/section/Events and join us for the 'Waterway Festival' or 'Sheep Day'.

In July 2014 we were privileged to have the Tour de France come through our town, before heading off into the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Below are a couple of websites that you will help you plan your visit.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
